Just play a round and submit your score to honor the memory of Mel Higa, easy as that.
The Mel Higa Invitational was started to honor the legacy of my Dad by bringing together friends & family with the sport that embodies his core beliefs of integrity, loyalty and friendship. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or word of advice and would often stand-up for others to defend what he believed in.Â
Mel started playing after his service with the US Air Force in 1967. He was self-taught and eventually achieved a handicap of -7. He shot a scratch round of 72, multiple times in his lifetime including a notable round at Griffith Park Golf Course in 1977. He never took putting ‘gimmes’, finishing out every hole and abided by official USGA rules.
